History of NYCN

Our Journey

The Northern Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) was founded with the vision of empowering young Nigerians to become active participants in nation-building. Since its inception, NYCN has been at the forefront of advocating for youth development, leadership training, and social impact initiatives.

Key Milestones

  • 1974: NYCN was officially established as the umbrella body for Nigerian youth organizations.
  • 1980s-1990s: Expansion of programs focusing on education, leadership, and entrepreneurship.
  • 2000s: Strengthening partnerships with government and interNorthern agencies to promote youth engagement.
  • 2010-Present: Digital transformation, advocacy for youth policies, and increased participation in governance.
